Regular or Narrow: the two Birkenstock fits

Many Birkenstock models are produced in two widths. The size size (length) is the same, it only changes the width of the plantar.

For this product the fit is not indicated: below you find the measures of both If you have any doubts, write us before the purchase and we will confirm which one will come to you.

Regular – normal fitFor normal or wide feet. On the plantar you recognize it from the footprint of the foot contorted (empty).
Narrow – narrow fitFor thin feet. On the plantar you recognize it from the footprint of the foot full (colored). In our titles it is referred to as "Stretto" or "Narrow".

How to recognize the right fit

  • A new Birkenstock looks wider than other shoes: the footbed leaves room for the toes to move naturally.
  • The width is assessed with the straps or buckles already adjusted.
  • With the right fit, there is a little space on the sides of the foot and the foot does not climb over the edges of the footbed.
  • If you already have a pair of Birkenstocks, look at the imprint on the footbed: full = Narrow, outlined = Regular.
