Birkenstock Madrid Birko-flor / Black / Regular Black Slide Women

A German brand since 1774: sandals and mules with the famous anatomical footbed.

The cork-latex footbed follows the foot’s arch and moulds with wear: signature Birkenstock comfort.

The EVA models yes — born for water and pool; cork-leather ones should not be soaked.

Generally true to size; the footbed feels firm at first and softens after a few days.

The footbed is firm by design: a short break-in of a few days is needed.

Cork and footbed clean with a damp cloth; leather parts with a brush and leather products.

The classic sandals can be repaired by a cobbler: sole and sometimes footbed are replaceable.

Most models are unisex in extended men’s-women’s sizes.

No: also clogs, closed shoes, boots and winter models with the footbed.

The anatomical footbed makes them appreciated for foot comfort, but they are not a medical device.

Clean and fully dry, stuffed with paper to keep the shape, in an aired place away from heat and humidity.

Air the shoes after use, take out the insole if removable and let it dry; specific shoe deodorants also exist.

No: direct heat deforms glue and materials. Always air-dry them, even if it takes longer.

With laces of similar length and thickness to the originals; take the old lace as a size reference.

If the model has a removable insole, yes: it can be swapped for an insole of the same size or a doctor-advised one.

Yes: stuff them with socks or paper to keep the shape and pack them in a bag separate from clothes.

When the tread pattern is smooth on the contact zones, or the shoe leans sideways when placed on the floor.

Some leather models soften with wear; feeling them stiffer in the first days is normal.

It depends on the material: treated leather tolerates light rain; suede and canvas should be protected or avoided in heavy water.

A cobbler can stretch that exact spot, or you can use shoe-stretch sprays and trees.
