Regular or Narrow: the two Birkenstock fits
Many Birkenstock models are produced in two widths. The size (length) is the same, only the width of the footbed changes.
Regular – normal fitFor normal or wide feet. On the footbed, you can recognize it by the foot imprint outlined (empty).
This modelNarrow – narrow fitFor narrow feet. You recognize it from the footprint on the insole full (colored). In our titles it is indicated as "Narrow".
How to recognize the right fit
- A new Birkenstock seems wider than other shoes: the footbed leaves space for the toes to move naturally.
- Width is assessed with the straps or buckles already adjusted.
- With the right fit, there is a little space on the sides of the foot and the foot does not climb over the edges of the footbed.
- If you already have a pair of Birkenstocks, look at the imprint on the footbed: full = Narrow, outlined = Regular.
