What kind of footwear is Sorel?

A Canadian brand founded in 1962 for harsh winters: snow boots and waterproof booties famous for extreme cold.

Are Sorel boots waterproof?

Most snow models have a waterproof upper and vulcanized rubber shell — built for snow and slush.

What makes a Sorel warm?

The recycled felt inner liner (removable on many models) plus the thermal insulation stated on the sheet.

Can the felt liner be removed?

Yes, on classic models the inner boot pulls out: remove it to dry or replace it.

How to clean Sorel boots?

Rubber shell with water and soap; leather or fabric upper with a damp cloth; wash the liner by hand separately.

Is Sorel only for snow?

No: besides snow boots there are waterproof booties and sneakers for city and light hiking.

Are Sorels heavy?

Classic snow boots are sturdy; urban and sneaker models are much lighter.

Does the sole grip on ice?

Lugged rubber soles grip well on snow and wet ground; on sheer ice you still need care or ice cleats.

How do Sorels fit?

Usually regular fit with room for a thick sock; between sizes check the product sheet for advice.

Is a temperature rating printed on the label?

Many models state a comfort temperature (e.g. -32°/-40°); it is an estimate and depends on activity and socks.

How should shoes be stored between seasons?

Clean and completely dry, with paper inside to maintain shape, in a ventilated place away from heat and moisture.

How to remove bad odours?

Air shoes after use, remove the footbed if removable and let it dry; footwear specific deodorants also exist.

Can they go in the dryer or near a radiator?

No: direct heat deforms glue and materials. Always dry them in the air, even if it takes longer.

How to replace the laces?

With laces of length and thickness similar to original ; wear the old lace as a reference for measurement.

Can the insole be replaced?

If the model has the footbed extractable yes: it can be replaced by an footbed of the same size or the one recommended by your doctor.

Can these shoes travel in a suitcase?

Yes: Fill them with socks or paper to keep shape and put them in a bag separate from the dresses .

How to tell the sole is worn out?

When the tread design is smooth in the supporting areas or the shoe tilts sideways on the floor.

Do new shoes need a break-in period?

Some models in leather soften with use; in the first few days it is normal to feel stiffer.

Can you walk in the rain with them?

Depending on material: the leather treated tolerates rain lightweight , suede and canvas should be protected or avoided with intense water.

What to do if the shoe pinches one spot?

A shoemaker can punctually enlarge the annoying area, or use spray and shoe spreader shapes.
